Unique opportunity: High-end chips

As you may have noticed, I haven't been very active on the Board recently. I was out of town for a while, and have been quite busy recently. I'll be more visible again.

We've all heard and been part of conversations concerning how one disposes of a collection, whether by choice, or because an estate needs to liquidate a significant collection in which no family member is interested.

I've been retained by a collector of quality material, to inventory, catalog, appraise and sell his collection. He wishes to remain anonymous, so I won't be mentioning his name. The chips are what are important, though, and they'll speak for themselves I'm sure.

There are more than 2,500 chips in the collection, and before I begin offering the entire collection to the public, I have selected the best and most unique pieces to offer to high-end collectors who will appreciate the quality and rarity of these chips.

There are 77 high-end chips from Nevada and 22 from Atlantic City in this group. Each is described in detail and cataloged. Some have not been seen before and appear in no catalogs or price guides. Rather than send out a list and because many of these chips need to be seen, I have scanned them 16 to a page, and have included separate descriptions of each chip in text files. I realize that not all of you will be interested in these chips. Rather than send you all a file that will take about 4 minutes to download (less if you have a high speed modem or a cable connection to the Internet), I thought it best to let you know about them, and to request the file if you'd like to see it.

Please understand that you won't find any cut-rate bargains in this group of chips. These are not chips that dealers will wish to buy to resell. As you would if the collection were yours, the collector I represent wishes to maximize the value of what he has collected over the years. The average price of these chips is about $1,000.

If you would be interested in receiving a copy of the file, please let me know. This is not, by the way, an auction. Each chip is priced individually, and each is one-of-a-kind. The first person to purchase each chip will receive it. Any chips not sold by the end of November will likely appear in Howard Herz's auctions and in the Club auction in July. There will be no eBay auctions of these chips.
