Wisconsin Slot Card News

Made a Saturday jaunt up to visit some indians yesterday. At North Star in Bowler, they are going to have a new card system in the near future. I stopped at the club booth to get a replacement card (easiest way to get an extra) and the lady took a old card and flipped it around to put my punch slots in the opposite corner, then put a hole punch in the old slotted corner to "cancel" those. She said they had run out of cards until the new ones come in. The newsletter shows what the new cards will look like and they seem to be switching over to a magnetic system. Also, there will be dark green "Star Club" cards
and dark blue "Superstar Club" cards for the high rollers in the new system.

There are a bunch of slight differences on the backs of the North Star Cards. The text looks the same, but the id of the company that makes them, located in the lower right corner, varies from "Faraday" to "DLR CP" to a symbol that looks like a lower case "a" in an oval. The fronts all look the same save for differences in shades of green -- EXCEPT for the last one I got. All of the cards have a spray of stars outlined in green, filled with yellow. On that last, double punched card, there is no yellow in the stars, they are white. I guess this is a new "type" in the last batch they got, or the one card I have they forgot to print the yellow on it.

I also stopped at Northern Lights in Carter, WI and they have a new card out. Similar to the old card (black & white with blue printing), the new card has brown/blue/yellow printing on the same design, and their new slogan, "We're Gonna Win You Over" along the top edge.

And the next card news in this area is sure to be the Chip-In up in northern MI. They are to open their new place December 15th and I hope to see new card and chips when I get up there in late December, weather permitting.
