They were hungry, came in with a game plan and beat us. We have an offense described as the most complex in college football. However, most opponents have been able to devise defenses against it. I've always thought that good coaches construct their programs around available talent. If a baseball team like the Cards of the '60's have speed and good defense but no power, then they steal, hit and run, play tough defense, etc. They don't go for the homer on every strike. SU football has been an option football team since the early 80's. This year, we have two young QBs that cannot run the option and two outstanding running backs. So what do we do, we run the option offense. [We do have an outstanding option QB in reserve but we don't use him either.] Still have a great defensive team [notwithstanding the route by Tech] but the offense has totally failed. Since the second half of the Pitt game five weeks ago, we have been among the worst offensive teams in the country. But next year we have a great true freshman QB who can run the option and assuming the coaching staff returns, we should be in the hunt again. Unfortunately, we have to play Miami in two weeks and that won't be pretty either.
AS FOR TECH: We're with you, Hokies--win it all.
