Re: Help; Harolds Club $5, e:Bay, fire, etc.

Being the king of Harold's chips I'm glad you pointed out it was not one of my auctions that you won. Many of the Harold's $5.00 have a small flat spot just as you noted having set in the boxes for 30 plus years.Seems they were stacked quite high and time and weight won. Even the chips without the flat spot have a small amount of paper stuck to the chip where in was in contact with the box. Only about half the Harold's $5.00 are in new condition. Most of the other dollar amounts were destroyed in the a fire. When I brought the chips I also brought the fire damaged chips and have sold many boxes on ebay and chips shows noting the fire damage. They make great conversation pieces and were sold with the understanding that the chips have no collector value other then a neat piece of history. I sell these boxes from $10.00 to $35.00 depends on the damage for a box of 100. I do have a few boxes of the $25.00 chip that I would call 95% new and these are the chips that I am selling with the 10 $5.00 chips that are undamaged.I note the $25.00 as being fire damaged just the same. My customers seem please after receiving the chips. I was asked by the former owner not to give out any information about the fire. I have a personal relationship with this person and will stand by his wishes.Good hunting to all. Mike Spinetti
