Well, life can always fool you.
I e-mailed the seller, who was very nice and energetic. She said she based her descriptions on other eBay auctions, wanted to do the right thing, and would amend her descriptions if I could "prove" what I was saying. So I sent her a link to the fantasy chip section of the Club web site. Then, in no time flat, she added this to all the Borland auction descriptions:
"On 11/09/99 at 15:34:24 PST, seller added the following information:
UPDATE
It has been pointed out to me that this is a
"Bill Borland Commemorative Souvenir Chip"
5 sets of chips were originally issued in 1992
Denominations for each set are $1-$5-$25-$100-$500-$1000-$5000
with opening and closing dates for the casino on each chip.
These were in no way meant to represent the actual casino chips
and were issued long after the casinos closed."
