Pete, thanks for posting the Elko photo. I'll take a neat old Stockmen's or Commercial chip over a new LE anyday.
There's no substitute for the chip collecting thrill of driving into Elko, after several hours on the road from Reno, on a crisp and cool autumn day. Get out of the car, stretch your legs, then hit the front door of the Stockmen's, wondering what kind of new (or old) chips you might find on the blackjack and craps tables, or maybe even get lucky in snatching up a "foreign" chip from the cage cashier.
I like and collect some of the LE's ($5 and less), and would even argue for a place for some of the LE's that have a legitimate relation to the casino or a truly special event (like the annual Cowboy Poetry chip from the Red Lion in Elko). But it is getting out of hand, with some of the LE's in the past year...just my opinion.
