I hope people reading my comments understand that what I write is about what I prefer. If they prefer to buy every new LE or whatever that comes along, fine. Have fun. <G>
My disappointment is that I can't even buy our own Club Chips because they were all bought up on speculation.
I do have some LEs and special chips. If I can get them for face and I like the design, I have been known to keep some. The rest get traded off whenever possible. To be honest, I don't really see that much of a demand, which makes me wonder where all these chips are going to? Not all to collectors, but most likely a large percentage go home as souveniers.
The flood of new chips will eventually "kill the golden goose" and some people with stacks of the hard to find LEs, will be sitting on stacks of $5 chips and no buyers. We've seen it before in stamps and coins.
Fortunatly when the wave passes, after the flood, things tend to level off and we can all get back to buying, selling and trading again on a more stable basis.
Old chips will hold up best, and the new issues, LEs etc. will take the biggest hit. So rule number one, must be repeated.
If someone is interested in collecting anything, don't do it on speculation, but because you like and enjoy what you collect. Collecting is not a profitable hobby.
