Prior to making any trip, I read guide books, search the net & gather as much information as possible. For those planning to attend the Blast from the Past show later this month, I offer the following:
1. Hush Puppy museum. The largest collection of Hush Puppy's in the world.
2. Catfish farm. Located just north of the city. Fish are fed every 4 hours, so check the schedule which should be listed in the local newspaper. If you never saw a catfish feeding, you got something in store. This may rival any event in Las Vegas.
3. Virgil's Place. A local bar that caters to NASCAR enthusiasts. Virgil is supposed to have one of the largest collections of spark plugs in the US & possibly the world. A don't miss!!!
4. Bubba's & Hoss'. A theme restaurant much like the Hard Rock Cafe. Memorabilia from their days on the railroad, jumping freight trains. Great pins made from discarded tin cans.
5. Billy Bob's & Emma Sue's Art Emporium. Features artwork done by local artisans. The highlight of this month's exhibit is popscicle stick sculpture. Have you ever seen a life sized Elvis made solely out of used popscicle sticks?!!!
6. Half Moon tour. This one is listed in one guide but not much information. From what I can guess, it has something to do with early Biloxi plumbing.
I'll continue to search for more things to do in between walking the bourse floor, trading sessions & making silly faces for Greg's camera.
