Hi Marv ---- couldn't agree more, but one of our regular posters (can't remember for sure now, maybe Gene) contacted them once before with only marginal (and unofficial) response. Essentially, that they don't know whether the chips were used in the movie or not, but that the movie folks did not give screen credit to Paul-son as agreed and sent the chips back. Paul-son subsequently continued producing them. It is possible that some were removed from the original production run by movie people, but as far as I have been able to find, no one has documentary proof to that effect.
BTW, I did call Christie's today. Their "Collectibles Expert" is not working the day after Thanksgiving (what does she think this is, anyway, a holiday?). I am going to fax her the pertinent information and follow up on Monday.
Also received another reply from Bob Passamenti as follows:
>Sorry for the vague answer - I am still trying to get as much background info
on these items as possible due to the number of queries..
The other authentication's are from The Williams Collection, and Classic
Collectables of New York - BOTH are backed by 100% Money Back Guarantees.
From what I hear from Mr. Hubbard (the item's previous owner) they do appear
in the background of the opening scenes of the movie (I have not seen the darn
movie yet). If you would like o questioned Mr. Hubbard (as he will be able to
give you more specific info) please do so at BEDLUM@AOL.COM. He is quite easy
to deal with and he has the actual Christie's COA which he used to back his
own COA from The Williams Collection. I am basing the price of the $1000 chip
on his assessment.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any further questions - the more I answer the more I learn about these things!
Regards,
Bob Passamenti<
Seems like a reasonable response. I will also contact this Mr. Hubbard to see what he has to say.
