These bills have been around for a number of years and I have one in my own collection. They are perfectly legal, as long as the holder of one does not try to use it for any other purpose then what was intended. That is to say, if you try to take it to your local McDonalds to buy a hamburger lets say, and actually get change back; then you would be breaking the law. (Similiar to the V nickels a few years back that some people had gold plated and tried to pawn off as $5.00 gold pieces!)
