Are any casinos using their own notes in machines yet? I was told that the idea is to have the slot machines spit out both casino notes and coins, with the notes readable in other slot's dollar bill readers so you don't have to go to the cage to change them into real cash.
Say you have credits for $110 on a slot machine. When you hit the cashout button, you'd get 5 $20 casino notes and $10 in coin from the machine. Saves the casino money by not having to fill the machine hoppers as often, and saves the gambler time by not having to cash in a piece of paper to play another machine.
The bills are printed very much like real dollars when it comes to detail, some even have holograms. I don't see this new technology completely replacing tokens, people still like to hear coins hitting the tray, but it is the future, and it is here now to use. See a sample below.
