Of course, we are both right! And I tip $1 for each of those free drinks. Take a seat at the nickle slots and see what kind of service (or lack of) you get. Tip a buck each drink, and like magic, they keep coming past every five minutes.
Should I explain why roulette is a better bet than slots, even though the house take is almost 3% higher? lol Or maybe why people who know better, will bet on 11 to 1 inside craps proposition bets, when they know it's a sucker bet.
(hunch my b...)
Bottom line is just what you wrote, plus factoring in the Expected Loss per hour at any "game" of chance. When someone is feeding a slot machine $36 a minute, or more if playing on credits, it means the person is putting about $2,000 and hour into the machine! Sure some is short term return, but figure out that playing 21 you can sit for hours, betting $5 a hand. On $20 worth of 50c roulette chips you can lose every spin and it takes over a half hour, and it's fun. You can make $6 craps bets for an hour and have an EL much lower than slots because every rool is not a decision.
People who think slots are a good bet, and the same ones who should just throw down $100 on the longshot horse at the track every race. Or better yet, also bet $2 on the favorite to Show. Put in $3, the machine pays back $2, and that's a win? <G>
I've made more money collecting chips, than gambling, and I think everyone on the board can appreciate how big that amount is! (NOT!)
