I got back from my vacation in Las Vegas with some frustrations, tired, and with a few new chips. I flew out Thursday, September 30th and back on Wednesday, the 6th. Got a look at the Resort at Summerlin and Paris. The Resort was so low key I nearly never found the place. Where the heck is a giant neon sign advertising the $5.99 Prime Rib when you need one? Even when I did find out where off of the Summerlin Parkway I had to exit, there was the smallest little sign that said I was there. Even then the buildings where so understated that I went into the hotel entrance instead of the casino, and had to go through the access to see the casino. Not too big, but pretty fancy. I was there on a weekday afternoon, so the place was not busy. I had a chip that the O'Neals sent me but got a card there. Paris was a heck of a sight to see. Got a chip and a card there. I went out to Jean on Saturday and visited the Nevada Landing and Gold Strike, but they put their new chips in the following Monday - just missed them! That night I also stopped at the new place that opened, the Klondike Sunset Casino just off Boulder Highway on Sunset. (This used to be the Tom's Sunset Casino, with the closed Alystra accross the street.) No $1 chips there, and I would have kept a token for my collection, but the 10c roulette wheel was running that Saturday, so I got a chip there.
The frustrating part of my trip was my own stupidity. I took $600 to gamble with, but after two and a half days I was down $500. Yuck. Nothing going right. Then Sunday morning I was on a quarter VP machine at the Fremont and hit a Royal for a $1000!. But the rest of the trip I gave back another $500. Should have hung on to more of it, but the machines just kept snatching bills out of my fingers.
I have a picture of some chips at - http://www.thechipboard.com/tcbuploads/NewVegas.gif
but the board will not post them. Greg, the file was "NewVegas.gif" when I downloaded it, but the program will not take it. What is up here?
