Yes, and we are much more polite and write much milder warning letters. LOL Next time you want to have a laugh, take a look at Rare Furby on eBay. One of the guys is now running private auctions, because (how do I know you already guessed) he was claiming that specific colors like grey and pink with blue eyes, or whatever, are limited editions. People were writing to the bidders and explaining that 250,000 is not very limited.
Or for those inclined, take a peek at rac* furby (limited edition Racing Furby, checkered flag design, Kmart only 72,000) and see that buyers have finally learned that even at these numbers, it's not worth $10 over list to own one of these. The auctions with high starting prices, have no bids.
On to chips. I won't call it dishonest, because it's totally up front. But I have seen someone advertising a common Nevada $5 small town for $25, and have gotten bids. The chip lists in TCR as an "E". I won't write, complain or anything, because the buyer has the option and ability to find the book value. Maybe they just "really have to have" this chip and can't make it to the convention where I would guess they are common.
Collect Hard Rock pins, what kind of nut do people think I am. I'm a casino chip collector! <G> (my friends still say, they don't believe there are thousands of other collectors.)
