For those who have anything to do with Nevada limited edition chips, this illustrated price guide is a must! It is the best $32.95 one could spend for such an accumulation of color pictures - over 800 and chip listings of over 1,400. This price guide is chuck full of Nevada limited edition chips.
To be perfectly truthful I expected much less. After all with as many colored pictures as 800 the price guide should have cost much more. The pictures are not of the highest quality but are clear enough for most intended purposes. I carefully looked at each one stating to myself "I wish the picture was sharper" yet most if not all of the chip detail was there.
The print is in a large font making it easy to read. I like the way the publication is put together. When you open the price guide and get by the who, warnings, disclaimers, etc., you find a "special thanks" to contributors with a nice touch for family and loved ones. I like that!! The introduction is to the point and fully explains the simplicity of this wonderful first edition. There is a useful table of contents. A plug for the free limited edition chip from the Fiesta and the CC>CC application for membership.
I did not care for the mintage listings since the majority of them can not really be depended upon for accuracy. I asked the author where the numbers came from and he told me from phone calls to the casinos. I guess that's OK but hardly the best source for information. It's not a big deal but I would of liked to see an explanation in the intro section explaining to the reader where the numbers come from.
Pricing is subjective and whether right or wrong does not detract from this vast undertaking. The author states the pricing is based upon fair market prices. It seems reasonable to me and also does not detract from the publication.
Overall, I liked this book!!! The hobby needed it and I'm glad to see the void filled. I do not collect limited edition chips but this did not stop me from enjoying every inch of this price guide. Buy it - you will not be sorry. It will make a great edition to your library.
