Below is a poster from the Billiard tournament you were at. I have it hanging in my pool room. I was also there & as you can see it was at the Tropicana in 1986. As for Earl..........He got fined $5,000 last year, right after the last tournament of the year. So, that answers your question about if he has changed or not. He might even be worst these days!
