At today's A.C. Chapter meeting, over 100 chippers turned out and a very spirited donation auction was held to benefit Bob Mera, with several lots realizing over $100... one lot went for well over $200.... just to give you an idea of how generous some of our club members are. Between the auction, the cash donations, and the 50/50 drawing, Chapter President Dick Brach reported that over $5,000 was raised on Bob' behalf. A superb job to a bunch of kind-hearted people who opened their hearts and their wallets for a good cause. As most of you readers probably have heard by now, Bobs retail store on the A.C. Boardwalk "Gaming Emporium" has been permanently closed and all inventory has been moved to another location where Bob anticipates that will be doing mostly Ebay sales and mail orders following his bone marrow transplant scheduled for early October. BTW.... Mark Lighterman won the 50/50 drawing on tickets that were entered in the drawing that were "purchased" through the mail. A $450 1st prize was captured by Mark... who had donated substantially to the cause, via substantial auction lots. I, and many others, came away from this meeting with a good feeling knowing there are so many people out there who care about this hobby and the people in it.
National CC>CC President, David Sarles, was on hand to give those in attendance an update on what the elected board has been doing, some of their goals and projects, and he answered questions from the floor. I was impressed with David's thoroughness and preparedness with his presentation. A good meeting in my opinion..
