CASINO MUNICIPAL MENTON - FRANCE

CASINO MUNICIPAL MENTON - FRANCE (Circa: 1930s)

Menton (Mentone in Italian) lies on the Cote d'Azur between Monaco and the Italian border. Though the region was once part of Italy, it was also part of Monaco, and seceded in 1849 to become part of France. Other than its palatial casino casino still in operation, Menton is located on a lemon-scented cove splashed by the Mediterranean; a short distance drive or train ride from Monte-Carlo (a must do town).

I only have one duplicate example remaining of this 500f plaque which measures 66 x 46mm. The piece is highly-embossed with designs of droplets incorporated within its Art Deco theme. The rectangle section to the right of the 500 was used for the placement of security stamps after play each night, and scrubbed-off the following evening prior to being put back in play.

The piece is available for a balanced trade or $150.

I call the piece being in "excellent condition" free of any cracks, warps or bends. Its glossy field is scratch-free.

Serial No. 0240
