Hi Alex,
Haven't seen you since we shared the shuttle to the Trop last Superbowl weekend. I hope all is well with you.
The push to using this medium is being fuel by the poeple that use it. No doubt about that. Resistance to making this the medium of regular use, much less choice, was, and is still being pushed by some club members. Club decisions shouldn't be decided here, but since most if not all current Club related moves and decisions are conducted via email these days, a call for more prompt information in this medium is not pushing the general membership out of the loop, it's a call for information that affects people before they know it from sources other than the people making the decisions.
Nor is it an effort to make The Chip Board the final governing body of the Club. This is and always has been a place for info, and sometimes controversial discussions. These BB discussions decide nothing, but they can make people aware. That's what I try to do. If it takes picking apart the public statements made by someone (putting them under a microscope), so be it. Not doing so will open even more doors that will hurt us all.
Someone on the Board could have sent me an email telling me that my services would be transferred to a new volunteer for the year 2000 Convention before I viewed the announcement by my replacement on the Club BB. *I* would have made the announcement for him if I had known, and done so in a very favorable manner.
My post to Rene's announcement was all very friendly advice.
This is where we're lacking in communication. I STILL have not received notice from the CC & GTCC that they have replaced me with Rene as Director of Convention Publicity.
As I posted on the Club BB, I have to plan my travel calender with one of my jobs ahead of time on an annual basis. I have to let those folks when I can fly where they need me for next year before this year ends. It's another bunch of volunteers that are finally getting paid for hard work. ....on the Internet.
Imagine that!
Bob
