Hi, Ebay "Categories" committee--
As a frequent participant in Ebay auctions in the "Collectibles:Casino"
categories, I would like to propose a new group of categories.
Currently, there are just 2 categories to choose from:
-Collectibles:Casino:General (#573)
-Collectibles:Casino:Chips (#899)
I propose a new grouping of 5 "Collectibles:Casino" categories:
1. Chips from Casinos [REAL casino chips only; not home-use or fantasy chips]
2. Poker chips + home-use, fantasy and non-casino chips
3. Metal casino tokens and "silver strike" tokens
4. Casino & gambling equipment: dice, playing cards, slot machines, etc.
5. Other gambling related items: matchbooks, postcards, swizzle sticks,
books, etc.
The 5 groupings, above, would allow casino-memorabilia collectors to
efficiently peruse the categories of interest, while ignoring other
categories. Speaking as a long-time collector in this area (20+ years)
and a charter member of the casino collectors club, I think you would
find much support with these new groupings with many of the "core"
frequent buyers and sellers in these categories.
In addition, this new set of categories, if properly used by sellers,
would allow for certain types of non-casino "fantasy" chips -- never
used in a casino, but may be mistaken for a casino chip to an unknowing
buyer -- to be segregated from legitimate casino chips. This type of
split in casino vs. non-casino chips would improve/ensure the integrity
of proper descriptions of casino-related items, which can only help the
integrity and positive image of Ebay and the legitimate
casino-collecting community.
If you wish further clarification or information on the categories, I
would be pleased to respond to any questions you have.
Best regards,
Robert Pardue
