That got me thinking about numbered LE's. I don't recall ever seeing a #(any number) of 1000 that has been issued that indicated the number was it's serial number.

I could be wrong on this one, but on the chips, it's always a serial number, with the total issue number somewhere else, like the reverse side of the chip or on the edge.
