It's time for another big cyberauction!
This time we're going to do it a bit differently. Last month's auction was not well-attended, and there were many lots that received no bids, some of them which didn't even have minimums! For September, we're going to see what we can do about that!
The September auction will be a NO-MINIMUM/NO-RESERVE auction. In auto racing parlance, run what you brung! A pure auction! A few suggestions: there's little point in consigning junk to the auction. Junk lots, or lots with nothing but common chips, won't get bids. Consign what you'd like for your own collection, and in the condition you'd like to have it. If you follow that rule, your lots are sure to get bids, and both bidders and sellers will be happy.
If you'd like to consign lots, just send me an e-mail with a description of the lot (a lot may consist of one or more chips, dice, books, ashtrays, postcards, whatever!). If the condition is different from average, you should mention that. For Nevada chips, including the TCR number will help, especially when there are several possibilities. (One consignor last month ignored that advice, and his lots didn't receive the action they might well have been entitled to, because bidders weren't sure what they were bidding on.)
Include your full name, please - if I don't know you, a web nickname or abbreviation is hard to figure out!
I'll accept consignments until September 7, then I'll begin putting the final lot listing together. I'll post the final lot listing on Chequers BB and on Greg Susong's Chipguide BB. E-mail bids will be then accepted until September 18. Depending on the number of lots consigned (100 will be the maximum), the final two or three days of the auction will be held LIVE on AOL, on September 22 and 23 or 21, 22 and 23 if there are enough lots. The actual dates will be posted with the lot listing.
Past auctions have contained some very good lots, some great buys, and a lot of fun for all!
Send as many consignments as you'd like. I'll use what I can, giving each consignor a chance to be represented in the auction.
Let's have some fun!
Michael
