Interesting question.
I've asked myself this several times. With regards to the Nevada tokens, I've made a note for a long time in my guide:
QUOTE:
.....As for this guide, no Nevada tokens exist that have a base metal that is not Silver, except outer rings on the $10 issues. If any tokens are found not to have a "Pure Silver Base", I will remove these from the database and list them elsewhere in future guides listing only their Casino of origin, face value and design description. I will not attempt to value these tokens.
It was brought to my attention several years ago at one of the shows in Las Vegas and repeated during more recent ones that the first three $20 Trump Plaza issues contain NO silver.
I beleive that the three tokens pictured below are those three tokens. There isn't a ".999 Fine Silver" inscription on them nor is there a "24K HGE" inscription on them. So I have my suspicions that the plating on them are not gold. Only suspicions.
My question is: What makes a token a Silver Strike? What are the thought's of the collectors here?
I am wondering how many other casino's have tokens(using the Silver Strike Program) that don't have ".999 Fine Silver" or ".999 Pure Silver" inscriptions on them?
Again what makes a "Silver Strike" a "Silver Strike"? Where's the defination?
