Kerry has expressed exactly the point I am trying to make.
Question: Would you bid on this chip if it was on ebay described in the following manner.
Old LV Casino chip from "The Casino" only opened for 1 year 1976-77.
Navy - Nevada Mold - made by The Nevada Dice Co.
Great addition to your Nevada collection.
Listed in TCR at N - $125 - $149
Bidding starts at a low $80 for this great chip.
WRONG!!!! It is Royal Blue not Navy and a Boreland chip. TCR at $3.
Even if you checked TCR before you bid, you could miss the double listing, and even if you did notice it, you could probably not tell the difference in color. Granted a person on this board would ask questions before they bid, but what about the 100's of other collectors out there that do not know we exist. In a lot of cases the seller of said chip would not have ever heard of Bill Boreland.
At this time the bulk of the Boreland counterfits are in one persons hands. What if he desides to sell them to an ebay rip off artist? If this were to happen, I predict, "YOU HAVE NOT SEEN NUTTIN YET" baby!!!
