Here is an example of the harm he has done to the hobby: I chip "on a shoestring," i.e., I don't have a lot of money to spend on chips. I'm sure there others like me. Because of the danger of getting stuck with a counterfeit, there are chips that I will probably never own. I just can't afford the risk of being fooled.
In the case of the so-called commemoratives that can be purchased new at Paulsons, etc., evem knowledgable chippers can be fooled. I'm not even at the knowledgable stage, yet.
