Kerry,
Nevada law says large cashouts must be verified as a casino win. For instance, if you won it on a BJ table, a pit boss must verify it. If you walk into any casino in Nv and try to cash at $500 ( let alone a $5,000 ) chip. They will verify the win. In Stupaks case, he had won $17,000 in a poker game in October. The poker shift manager was no longer working at the Shoe.
Today he came to the Shoe with 2 gaming agents. They gave him $100,000 he had on deposit plus he emptied 2 safety deposit boxes into a suitcase, but they still refused to cash the $5,000 chip. This time he had a letter from the poker S/M that is now working elsewhere, verifing the win. They refused to cash it because Stupak had filed suit and the chip was in ligation.
Botton line is this is all bull****. The Shoe is following the law, but Stupaks wins can be verified, as he bets big money at the book. He just happened to win this chip in poker and they are taking a shot at him. I am also fairly certain, Bob was not very nice the 1st time he tried to cash the chips.
There are other poker players with $5,000 chips also. This is very bad press for the Shoe and gaming in general. Especially since Bob gave a chip to gaming biggest foe, Reverend Grey, and the shoe refused it also.
I predict Stupak will get the money.
