Hi Jim,
Prodigy.com is for the most part a firewalled service that has their own Bulletin Boards, and the first available major online service web browser (it needs work BIG time, they haven't brought it up to standard in a long time). Prodigy.net is standard ISP, you access it via MicroSoft Internet Explorer or Netscape. They have some firewalled areas, but for the most part, it's just a very good ISP. You get both for $19.95/month unlimited usage. Prodigy.com can still still be accessed with an IBM 8088 processor, i.e., a strictly DOS machine.....you don't have to do Windows. With Windows, Prodigy.net has an advantage for those building their own websites as they allow 6 meg for free, and Prodigy.com only allows 1 meg before they start charging extra.
It might take a couple months to get used to using a standard ISP (Prodigy.net) if you cut your computer teeth on AOL, but it's cheaper, it runs faster and is overall better service.
