Just returned from a week long cruise on the Enchanted Isle of the Commodore Line sailing out of New Orleans. Great cruise (all cruises are great!) But--HORRIBLE Casino. Worst I have ever seen. Example: In Carribean Stud game--dealer slaps player's hand and won't let him look at his cards until she looks at his cards. Drunk doesn't have money to back up his ante so he puts the cards in his pocket--wanders off to find wife at slots to get more money--returns--takes cards out of pocket--nothing said. Dealer looks at her cards--looks at player's cards--sees that player will win--reaches into player's stack of chips--takes 2 or 3 or 4 dollars--puts them out as tip--player wins of course and dealer doubles his/her tips. Fellow takes bathroom break--pit boss comes over and takes $100. and ante's it up--looks at dealer's cards--looks at player's cards--puts back $80 into player's stack--player wins and returns to find an extra $60. at his seat--and Tips Heavily!. And on and on. Now for the news: Commodore is getting a new ship ready to sail out of San Diego. Two gambling trips per day. The Enchanted Isle will be refurbished in dry dock in November and major updating will be done including the Casino. (The Stud felt had holes in it and the wording was barely legible. The chips were dirty and many of them were chipped. I asked but never got a clear answer as to whether they were going to discard the present chips and start with a whole new set. I would bet on it.) Don't know all the links but the Isle of Capri and Commodore Cruise line belong to the same people and the other Commodore ship the Enchanted Capri use Isle of Capri type chips. Oh, also the Commodore line will soon be having a ship sailing out of Philadelphia to Bermuda. I hope I have all my stories straight. Sorry for the long report. The chip I scanned here is for sale on eBay. Doug
