Let Me Attempt to Smooth This Over

Hi Carol,

Let's see if we can smooth this over.

>>>>>That was pretty rude. You asked a question about why your $35 wasn't shown, and I tried to help with an answer. For that I'm called Greedy??>>>>

Actually, I used the "!" where I meant to use the "?" GREED? in my message.

You went a little farther than answering the question why my $35 bid wasn't shown, and I commented on that as mainly more of a question.

I didn't mean to be rude.

>>>>>Your comment (So you aren't happy at receiving your lowest acceptable price?) It is an auction, why shouldn't I want the most someone is willing to pay. Why would I want the lowest possible price??>>>>>

"Lowest possible price", meaning what? The lowest possible price that the High bidder bid won at or the High bidder's highest bid? Remember we're not talking reserve auction here. With the reserve auction, I still feel that my HIGHEST BID, should be shown, if the RERSERVE HAS NOT BEEN MET. (In that regard we're not wasting anyone's time having to bid up to my High bid)

Why shouldn't you want the most someone is willing to pay? Hypothetically, answer this yourself "if" the item is being sold for 10 times what you can't get more for. I know, that this can happen in auctions and as everyone tells each other "here" it is for the seller to be informed about what they are selling and buyer beware, and that's the main point. Not to mention "bidding frenzy" which I am sure E-bay is looking for. Sure, if I were selling too I'd like to get the most for my item, that being a few more dollars than I paid for it or near high catalogue value assuming that didn't pay that much in the first place. That's the main reason I don't usually sell items at auction. I like to trade.

We can agree that everyone want's top dollar for their items, but where does end? When we cause a potential collector to find out that they overpaid for many of the items they've purchased(and from other collectors)? Again we're back to Buyer Beware and become informed.

>>>>>Why bother to ask the question if you didn't want any answers?>>>>>

You did explain why my $35 bid wasn't shown. THANK YOU. But the way that system works is pretty poor causing only me as one bidder to know that the reserve price is higher than my high bid. I still think that my HIGH bid especially on a reserve auction should be shown if the reserve isn't met.

>>>>>It will be quite a while before I bother to contribute anything again.>>>>>

I agree with John Benedict & Jim Reilly -- stick with us here; your opinions are valuable to the rest of us. And you can always do what we do and ignore posts on certain subjects (or by certain individuals).

My original statement....
!!!!!Would you be willing to stop these people from paying $100.00 on an item you started at $8 but buyable at $10.00 from almost any dealer? Or would you end your auction and offer both the bidders the item at $15.00? I doubt it.!!!!!

Based on your statement....
>>>>>At the end of the auctions as a seller, I would be dissappointed to find out some one was willing to pay a high bid of $60 and it went for $40.>>>>>

>>>>>And yes, I did turn down a $100 bid for a Bugsy house chip. Told the man I didn't think he was sure what he was bidding on.>>>>>

Please accept my appreciation for informing me of your candid honesty, in educating a potential buyer and collector, we need many more of you.

Remember stick with it here! My opinions are my own and there are lots of people who have been able to change them here. EVEN YOU.
