Thanks for your comments. Good points...

I also have used a tiny drop or so of Mineral Oil on chips that have lost their natural oils and look "chalky" after cleaning. It can make a world of difference. I wipe them several times with a dry cotton cloth (after applying the Mineral Oil) and leave out exposed to the air for at least 48 hours prior to placing in a flip.

As far as I have read.... a chipper should NEVER substitute any other kind of oil for Mineral Oil. Oils such as Vegetable & Canola will eventually turn rancid, sticky, and gummy. (just run your finger around the outside lid area of your cooking oil bottle to prove this!)
