Gene wrote, "I can't get home to read the response to this one". My response was not for entertainment value Gene. This is serious stuff. Too many people in this organization have given so much to its success, I will not allow their to be be diminished by idealists. I understand the politics involved and the upcoming campaign and such.... but I have trouble figuring out where Jimbo is coming from. He did a noble act with his "Our Bar" promotion and the club recognized his generous contribution at the time. I don't know how many "outsiders" the promotion brought into the club. Has Jim undertaken the function of a campaign manager for some of the candidates? If so, he should state so. If not, then perhaps he should consider throwing his hat in the ring and becoming a candidate himself and seek a nomination for one of the five offices. Evidentlly, this "club publicity" thing is going to be a big issue in the campaign. I read of one post citing NASCAR and their publicity.... I was not aware that NASCAR was a club. I think that some folks tend to compare apples with oranges. I don't know of too many hobby/collector club that have the numbers of members that CC>CC enjoys. Is there room for growth? Of course. To hear Perlowski , and some challengers tell it, the impression is given that the present officers don't want to grow the club any larger than it presently is. Nothing could be further than the truth. It's going to be a wild campaign. Which new officers the membership decides will run the club in 1999-2000 will be very interesting. Since I don't know who all the candidates are until after the nomination process is completed, I will reserve my personal endorsement. Having said that, no matter who wins, I pledge my support and will offer my assistance. Archie.
