Today's chip manufacturers learned this "suction technique" from the ivory turners in the last century. A suction test can be made by holding a few of the chips together face-to-face; sliding them slightly against eachother to cause the suction, and when pulled apart (cutting) the strong suction can be felt. This test can easily be performed with quality plastic extruded roulettes.
