Greg,
Mr. Zeller was appointed after MUCH debate about the small sum of money spent by CC & GTCC for club promotion. Prior to Mr. Zeller a young lady from Texas was the clubs promotion person. She didn't last too long. Probably because she wanted to spend some money.
I have never met Mr. Zeller nor have I heard of any of his ideas on how to promote our club.
The CC & GTCC reminds me of my 27 years with the federal government. Anytime you don't want to deal with an issue - you place it in a committee thereby "killing it" or you assign a "new" individual with a title that sounds like something will get done.
The fact is "The board" will not vote any funds for club promotion "because we need the money". This concept that makes no logical sense and must change after the election.
There are individuals within our organization who are seizing upon the lack of club promotion as an issue for the coming election. It is my opinion they really don't care about club promotion - but it gives them something to "run" on.
My friend Janice O'Neal has been talking about this concept with me for over two years. She didn't decide to jump on this isssue within the last couple of months. David Sarles believes the club must expand and bring in new members in order to remain healthy.
We as an organization cannot wait for "others" to donate their time, effort, and/or money to get something done. I have earned my right to discuss this issue and openly speak out. I have given thousands of dollars via the "Our Bar" promotion to my chapter. I was told by the CC & GTCC they didn't need the money so the p[romotion was conducted at the chapter level. They didn't need the money - Yeah, Right!!! The Southern Nevada Chapter has a healthy promotion "fund" that is going to be used for promoting our hobby. We plan to spend thousands - the National CC & GTCC spends less than $100.00. They choose to relie upon voluntary publishing and promotion by non club members. I believe something is wrong and so do Sarles and O'Neal.
I have tried numerous times to get the board to cut loose of the purse strings. The standard response is a song & dance about how we really don't have a surplus and the money is needed to publish our club magazine. I must admit if you listen long enough and don't pay much attention - you too might be convinced they are right. After all Archie is a master at telling everyone how "broke" the club is. - Best, Jim
