Just to "stir the pot", are roulette chips the Pit Boss' to give? Technically, they belong to the casino of which he is an employee. It would not be up to the house-keeper to let you have/sell you a towel that belongs to the hotel, even if the profits from said sale went to the hotel, would it? Nor do I think that it would be ok to sell the plates at the buffet under the same conditions, by the hostess. I would suspect that the employer would not look favorably upon any of the above examples.
The only exception would be if the employee had prior authorization from the management/owners to give/sell you these items. As I said, just stirring the pot, and having an internal discussion with my "cricket"! <g>
