I think Robert is correct for us to keep the Crest &
Seal chip meaning simple. He and I (and others)
have discussed this many times through the years,
and agreed, that the C&S chip is what we see below:
A flat "plain" mold as described under "mold" in the Cal-Neva Roulette listing in "The Chip Rack."
If we were to look at some of the descriptions of
Crest & Seal in original manufacturer's and
distributor catalogs, we would tend to believe a C&S
chip could be just about anything. But the round,
litho die-cut inlay that's imbedded into the body of
the chip and having a "smooth" surface as seen
below, and in what Larry has been showing us in his
related posts, is what we like to believe as being a
"true" Crest & Seal chip. What Robert meant about
"contoversy," was that there are some collectors
that believe a C&S chip can be any type chip such as
die-cut inlaid or similar. Many tend to believe
not.
