synonym HONESTY, HONOR, INTEGRITY, PROBITY means uprightness of character or action. HONESTY implies a refusal to lie, steal, or deceive in any way. HONOR suggests an active or anxious regard for the standards of one's profession, calling, or position. INTEGRITY implies trustworthiness and incorruptibility to a degree that one is incapable of being false to a trust, responsibility, or pledge. PROBITY implies tried and proven honesty or integrity.
Whats wrong wiyh honesty? Some of you think I had no right letting the bidders know how many chips there really are now. You say I should mind my own business. Well since I dicovered the chips, researched them, talked to people by phone & email, & came up with a fair price for all, then that makes it my business.
As many of you have stated in other posts, there are only a handful of chip
collectors on the net. Also anybody who doesn't know about this board hasn't a clue that these chips have been found.
Pete knew how many chips there are. Now pretend you don't know how many chips there are. Go back & look at the auction. You see the headline. Authentic RARE Dunes Las Vegas 1st Issue Chip. Read the discription. You look it up in the price guide & think man, I've got to get that chip. Nobody informs you that there are 200 out there now. You are bidding against 3 other bidders who also don't know there are 200. Oh Boy, you WIN, you get it for 300.00.
Next week, next month you are showing off your RARE chip to some other collectors, & they all pull out there Dunes Chips. Wouldn't you be #####ed?
The bidders did their research. They looked in the price guide & saw the RARE chip value. These chips were not known about when these books were written. The authors weren't being deceitful when they put out the books. The chips had not been known about at that time. I am 100% sure they will be entered in the next books.
I was not looking to make more sales by contacting the bidders. My sales are fine. My concern was to inform them that they were not bidding on a chip that there were only 4 - 7 known to exist, but actually Almost 200 of each.
I believe they had a right to know the truth, as the truth is not always that easy to find out.
