No I don't think you are "stirring the pot" at all, Greg. You've raised some excellent points. And you are absolutely correct, it makes NO difference if a club officer is addressing 200 club members or a half dozen around the dinner table at a restaurant.... or at the smallest chapter. My point is that the officer chooses the forum in which he/she responds....or not responds, .whether it be a response posted on your bb or the club's message board, or via email, or snail-mail, or telephone, or at a gathering such as the Atlantic City Chapter meeting where he has accepted an offer to be a guest speaker....., or none of the above. It was the previous President's policy to address all club related matters on the club message board. That's one of the prime reasons why the club site and board was set-up. I'll admit, this didn't happen 100% of the time because sometimes one feels that they must rebut something that is said that is not accurate. To ignore a misleading or innacurate post through silence sometimes is interpreted that it must be the truth because it has not been challenged. The current President has stated that his policy will be the same. He will only address club related subjects on the club board. I've been at discussions at restaurants as you have described, or at other social events, and on occassions when something club related came up, I sometimes may have chosen not to engage in that conversation..... or offered a "no comment". Perhaps I didn't like the makeup of whom was sitting at the table. Look at it this way Greg. If I kept borrowing your lawn mower every time I wanted to cut my grass.... sooner or later you would say..... boy, I wish he would get his own lawn mower. Same thing with your bb. The club now has it's own message board. We have grown also. That doesn't mean that club members do not need your forum anymore. The club has provided a forum for an exchange of ideas that pertain to club matters. Your bb has a purpose also. If people (myself included) wish to post club "stuff" on thechipboard.com I'm happy to hear that you have no objection to them doing so. On the other hand, if the current club President states that he will only address club related posts on the club board, as the previous President did, I think that's his perogative to do so...... and after making his policy known to all .... it's foolish in my opinion to expect a reply to a post that appears elsewhere. I hope that you are not mistaking my message as one that is suggesting to avoid using Greg's valuable service to the hobby. I simply don't understand the reluctance on the part of some posters to use the vehicle provided for the purpose it was intended. We don't need a tank to deliver a message that could be more effectively be delivered by a jeep.
