Oh gawd. I hope you don't think I'm stirring the pot about whatever vote went what way. I prefer the Orleans to the Trop, but could really care less about the location as long as the room rates are right and the property has a casino. <g> Just because I have a preference doesn't mean it's a strong preference or that I'm po'ed at anyone for having a different preference. If I wanted a hand in all the club decisions then I'd have run for President myself. I am very satisfied to let the board handle everything they have to handle and I will support whatever decisions they make. If, at the end of 2 years they make enough decisions that I don't like then I'll promote the election of different leadership. But, until then we're all in this boat and I'm not one to be a rockin' it.

I don't agree with the board decision to not comment about club matters on any other bb except the club bb. Like you said, "I can't imagine a club officer ducking legitimate questions, posed in a civil manner, before a large gathering of club members at a meeting of the largest chapter in CCGTCC..." I can't imagine it either. I can't even imagine a club officer not commenting on club matters if they were sitting in a restaurant with 5 or 6 club members having supper or if they were attending a meeting of the SMALLEST chapter. Can you? I don't think so. Then why would it not be appropriate for them to comment on club matters on this bb? There are 200 or so regular readers of this bb. Not everyone reads every message, but Janice's announcement has had 216 reads in just over 24 hours. Just think of all the light readers that only read the board every few days and then only the few messages that look interesting to them.

Don't get me wrong, I don't believe they are obligated in any way to comment here or anywhere else about the club activities. Everyone has their own style and their own way of doing things, not to mention their own time restraints, etc. We elected them to do a job and I'm sure they are doing it to the best of their ability. But I do think it is wrong to label one medium or another and declare it an inappropriate place to comment. It would be different if this was a bb for beanie baby collectors or astronomy enthusiasts. But this bb is for chip collectors and for all things that chip collectors are interested in.
