Thanks for your constructive suggestions, Steve.
This is a problem we wrestle with every year, believe it or not. So far we've decided that the market in chips at the high end is sufficiently restricted that it's very difficult to give an accurate picture of their "average" value.
We'll take a look at the issue again for TCR7, you can be sure.
Your post brings up another point, which isn't directly related, but which I've thought about quite a bit since the convention. Many times during the convention someone stopped me (and I'm sure this happened to Allan and Ernie as well) to say that a particular chip was "going for" more or less than what the TCR6 value was.
I caution everyone to be very careful when talking about what a chip "goes for." Anyone can put any price tag they want on a chip. A SALE is quite a different matter. A chip doesn't "go for" anything unless that amount is paid for the chip. In arriving at value ranges for TCR, we try to consider SALES of chips, not dealers' asking prices, not trade deals, and not partial trade/partial sale deals.
We listen when people tell us what they PAID for a chip, not what someone asked for it, and not what they traded for.
