Since two of the three authors of this fine work are here on a regular basis, I thought I'd post my ideas here too!
With the ever escalating prices on Nevada chips (and others too), I think it may be time to overhaul the price range classification in the book. "Over $800" just doesn't cut it anymore as there are quite a few chips now that fall into this category. Just this year at the convention I saw a rare chip offered by two different dealers, one with a $1500 tag on it and the other with a $2500 tag!
Now if I wanted it, I know where I'd buy but since I've seen SO MANY dealers and collectors using the 'Rack' to come up with prices (which is a good thing), I feel the upper limits must be changed with the times.
Just as a suggestion, I'd keep the lower values 'tight' as they are now but I'd 'relax' the higher end stuff as that's where there can be MORE leeway(sp).
Here's my example:
I'd leave "A" through "R" the same as MOST chips will fall into one of these categories. I'd modify the following:
S= 300-499
T= 500-699
U= 700-899
V= 900-1099
W= 1100-1399
X= 1400-1699
Y= 1700-1999
Z= >2000
I know some might feel the "range' on these high end items might be a bit large, but that is a fact if you've ever "shopped" them.
What do you think, ESPECIALLY the authors?????
