Re: Top of The Vine Chips Availible
In Response To: Top of The Vine Mexican Food ()

I am offering selling the complete set of chips (9) for $80 postpaid.

The Top of the Vine Casino was located at the Fraser Park off ramp of Intestate 5 in Lebec, California. This is in the Tejon pass near the summit thus top of the [grape]vine. This section of the road between Los Angeles and Bakersfield is called the "grapevine". I believe the club officially opened in 1995. The odd denominations were to be used as drop chips in the poker games for "jackpots". California law was changed shortly after they opened outlawing jackpots, so the odd denominations were never used.
The 50 cent chip has a bright copper finish, the $1 (there are two
variations) are light blue with an antiqued brass finish. The $1.50 is
antiqued copper, the $2.50 has a bright silver-like finish, the 3.50 has an
antiqued silver like finish, the 5 is brass, and 25 is brass. The $4 first
anniversary is bright copper but the edges are badly plated. (almost all that were manufactured are like this). The card room was owned by a chip manufacturer who makes the world supply of metal (brass) chips. Each denomination has a slightly different metal finish. See http://www.zzyzxchips.com/tovset.jpg
