Just got back from a Diamondbacks baseball game. One lucky
lady was selected (Out of 38,500 fans) upon entering the
ball park to select which player in which inning would hit
a Grand Slam. If she gets it right she wins $1,000,000.
What would you do? Would you play a hunch and pick just
anybody or would you play the odds. Pick the guy who has
the most homeruns for the DBacks. She did, Jay Bell. What
inning? Would you play a hunch or pick the innning Bell
has hit most of his homeruns? She did, 6th inning (he has
hit 8 in the 6th). When the sixth inning starts the 5th
place hitter starts it off. Bell bats 2nd in the order.Doesn't look
good. Eventually Bell makes it to the plate with two out
and the bases loaded. Game is tied 3-3. The fans go wild
cheering (for the lady). You can see the tension at the
plate as Bell goes 3-2 on the count and barely fouls off
two pitches. And then I see a ball coming at me and
immediately know it is gone. It falls two rows short (of
me) and two seats over. Arizona has a new millionaire.
ESPN's "play of the day". This is the first DBacks game
she has ever gone to. It pays to go to a Diamondbacks
game, and Ya gotta play the odds
