I imagine what is happening is a problem on a server somewhere between you and the chequers site. It affects you because that is the path your data wants to take to get there. It doesn't affect someone else because their data is going on a different route.

I've had the same problem here before. I'd get an email saying how slow the server was acting, yet at the same time, I would have just logged off thinking how speedy the site seemed that day and vice versa.

Do you have an AOL account or a Progidy account still? If so, try logging on through them and you might find they will route you around the problem area.
