Hi Marv -----
>> Well, from what I heard about that $100 tourney chip you got from Mel. Only a few were made and SALTED in the pots by management. << I played in several of the tournaments during the North Bay Classic and also played some open Hold 'Em during that time. I don't believe any of those chips were ever salted into a pot (though I guess it was possible in the 6-12 or 15-30 games). I know for sure that one was given (as part of the prize payout) to each of the tournament winners. Some cashed them in, some did not. I offered $115 for one that was given to the winner of one of the tournaments I played in, but he turned me down. They were not available for purchase from the cage.
>> As far as Jung-Pfaender's book listing the Chinese New Year $2 and $10 Chips. Maybe they did what I have a bad habbit of doing... Copying a listing in the database and adding it but forgetting that there weren't two other types and not proofreading the results. << Sounds logical. I've been meaning to ask Mel about those listings, but keep forgetting.
>> And the Western Gambling chip not being listed in there, my question is what is the issue date of that book. I am not sure when or if they did a newer release which would have included it. << Mel and Armin have greatly expanded their data base, but have not yet issued a newer version than the one I have. Last time Mel and I discussed it, he said the new one would have more than 1000 new listings (I forget the exact number he told me, may have been more like 1500 new ones).
>> Here's a scan of the $3 Grand Opening chip. << Nice looking chip. Scott Hartman has one for sale. I may have to buy it. <g> ----- jim o\-s
