Hi Marv ----- Sorry about the $100 tourney chip; didn't know you were looking for one, too. <g>
Your list does total 34, but you omitted the $3 New Year's chip. Are you really missing that one or do you actually have 35?
Neither of your lists includes the 25¢ California Aces chip (though arguably, I guess, it shouldn't be considered a Sonoma Joe's chip if, like the original tournament chips, it was actually produced for use at another cardroom and then just carried over to SJ's). Not sure what the pedigree on this is -- or what the "R" stands for.
>> Now you have me! A $2 and $10 Chinese New year? I don't think they made those, or else Mel has been holding out on me!..<G> << As I said, I'm not sure what the deal is on these. Eastman doesn't list them, but Jung-Pfaender does. I've never seen a $2 or a $10 (not even a picture) and only the $1, $3 and $5 were available when I bought them at SJ's (though, as I said, I bought them several weeks after they were originally issued and it is possible the $2 and the $10 were sold out already).
>> Serialized Bat Masterson? Mine doesn't looked seralized only says
"1997 Ltd. Edition/600" << Same as mine, Marv. But, neither is listed in Jung-Pfaender and Eastman lists two varieties ("serial #" and "Lim.Ed.") and shows a photocopy of a chip with what looks like a serial number next to the $5. As a tie-breaker, Scott Hartman's catalog shows Western Gambling set of 20, serial numbered #23 of 250 (and has a photocopy of the chip clearly showing the number 23 next to the $5). Seems to add up to two varieties (250 serially numbered and 600 unnumbered). Which doesn't explain why Eastman values both at $13-18.
BTW, had my wife look at the $1000 tourney chip and she says it's blue. I'm virtually colorblind, so ....
What happened to the $100 tournament chips? Got my four from Mel, who had no $100's. Obviously, you don't have one. Scott Hartmann has the other four available, but not the $100. I know there was one (used a few in tournament play).
Are we the only two guys in the world trying to put together complete collections of Sonoma Joe's chips?? <g> ----- jim o\-S
