Steve, if you really cared to look at this thread again, you would see I was initially responding to Paul's tirade against Jim, where Paul compared copying software to choosing email over long distance, anong other bogus, ridiculous justifications. I've already admitted I might have exercised a bit more tack in my response. You apparently overlooked the part where I said, "Steve's original request was to purchase a program someone no longer wanted. That is legal, provided the seller does not keep a copy." I was not judging or attacking you... this time.
As to, "Who appointed Larry God's right hand man in charge of software and morals?" No one. I have a right to stand up for what I believe in, and speak out against what I think is wrong. People do it all the time on this board. Sellers misrepresenting fantasy chips as real hurt the collecting hobby, and the value of our real chips. If collectors don't speak out against it, who will? Yes, they have a vested interest. That does not make them wrong for trying to educate sellers, or taking offense when a seller counters with bogus justifications for misrepresenting the chips. Some people take a stand against the loss of our rainforests, whaling, insurance fraud, or many other legitimate causes. The world is a better place because of people willing to stand up for what they believe in.
As to, "If anyone can come forward and say that I have ever offered to Copy any chipping reference material (books or Greg's Cyberguide on CD) I will donate my entire chip collection to Larry's favorite charity," would you care to tell the group of the offer you made to me back in February, where we had this discussion once before? Please explain to us why it is wrong to copy "chipping reference materials" and your scans, but not wrong to copy software?
