Legal/Moral Convictions
In Response To: Re: well said ()

You talk about the financial hardships that small programmers endure, and how they are hurt the most by bootlegging. Probably true. However, I would be willing to bet that the Slot Machines you so proudly program have ruined a million times more lives and families than software copying. Are slot machines legal, sure. Are they moral, many think not. Do all of us pay the price for problem Gamblers. Without a doubt! in my small town I know of 8 families destroyed, three huge bankrupsies, causing many in our community in dire financial straights. A neighboring town had a Catholic Priest embezel $300,000 and put it into your precious slot machines. Imagine the impact on the innocent victims of that Parish. Yes, those are the hard working people that through no fault of their own are in a round about way PAYING YOUR SALARY! Is there a little memo on the checks you write stating "This payment made possible by the hard work of millions of addicted gamblers"?

So, while you are looking down your nose us common degenerates, you enjoy your weekly paycheck, money fleeced from many of the people that can least afford it. Do you look at the lights of Las Vegas and say proudly to your family "I helped build this!" Who cares where the money comes from, as long as I have a job.

Larry, We have never met in person, You sound like an intelegent person, and I am sure we could be friends, I just take offense at the vigor with which you chastize basicly good people who do not share your views on software.

You asked Paul "Didn't your mama teach you right from wrong?" You state that you will not "harvest" roulettes from Casino's. Is that a moral conviction or just a lesson that you learned from your mama... called "Don't Steal from the Hand that Feeds you"?

It's time for both of us to get off the "soapbox" and mind our own business.
