Yes, it's one of the Paul-son aluminum metal inlays that is painted black. I've never understood why. All other's I've seen are anodized some color, usually silver, gold, green, red, or blue. The Stockmans in Elko has a $5 that is black, but it doesn't look painted like the Fremont's. This one even has a ring of paint around the inlay on the clay. Really a maverick.
By the way, I have a specialty collection of the Paul-son metal inlays with 32 chips at this point. They even sold a few of these to California card rooms and to Puerto Rico casinos. Quite an interesting area.
There are still some of this type chip in play in Las Vegas... can anyone guess which club still uses them?
