It is a great book, indeed, as Messick is very good,
but Trimble is better <g> when it comes to
Cincinnati and Newport... Gene dug up stuff on
Cleveland and the boys while doing the Arrowhead
Club research that only certain families know and
will never be seen in books. Of all the rules set
down to several of
the geographic bosses in the early years, Cleveland
was the most tight-lipped. Any reading pertaining to
the Cleveland Syndicate is very interesting and if
anyone is into illegal gaming operations this book
is a must. It is not an easy book to locate.
Gene's articles may be found at ChecquePoint on
CHEQUERS, and in "Gaming Times" magazine.
