Archie, your points about the "value" of our convention to the hotel is valid. As a group, we're not the biggest gamblers, since we are spending a lot of our money on chips to take home.
Just curious (if you know): At the 1999 convention, did the Orleans factor into their calculations the fact that the 2,000 issue of $5 CC>CC chips were all purchased by club members? At a profit of $4 per chip, that's $8,000 profit to the Orleans, assuming all chips were sold and not redeemed. That may not be a big deal to them, but I don't know of any wedding receptions that can put $8000 profit in chip sales in the casino's pocket! (One exception: the Donald & Marla wedding chip from the Taj Mahal.)
